uring the latter part of the nineteenth century, the southern portion of land in Brooklyn, which is currently located below the Shore Parkway, was converted into a beach resort. By 1910, the hotels began to close down as amusement parks began to open. Eventually, there were no longer any hotels and the “summer resort” only welcomed residents of New York City who would visit for just a day. By the twentieth century, however, all that began to change.
At the turn of the century, the Muss Development Company decided to bring summer resorts back to Brooklyn using a fifteen-acre site. On the site, the company decided not to build a hotel, but rather an oceanfront community. Between 2001 and 2007
, a fifteen-building condominium complex was constructed in the Brighton Beach area of Brooklyn. The complex was quite a switch from what residents of the City were used to seeing. In fact, in 2003, it was a finalist for the National Association of Home Builders award due to its architectural beauty. While it did not win, it certainly turned some heads.
The complex is known as Oceana Condominium and Club. It is situated right above the beach and is home to 865 apartments. Past the gated entryway to the complex, which is guarded twenty-four hours a day, chamomile grows next to the sidewalks. Chamomile, as you may know, is known for its stress-relieving aroma, which added to the relaxation sensation of a summer resort.

Now that we’ve enthusiastically told you about the breathtaking exterior features of the home, it’s time to talk about the jaw-dropping interior. I can’t even get into every detail about the house because everything—and I

Can you imagine yourself living in Waterside? Close your eyes for a moment and listen to the sound of the ocean waves as the sun seemingly follows your every move; the seagulls passing you by, flapping in the breeze. Calm. Serene, and relaxation from the daily hustle and bustle of what people may come to expect inside New York City boarders… I call this a home of tranquility; this of is as a staycation type of home; a home where a sea breeze and ocean views are a daily part of the experience. See the complete listing for 413 Father Capodanno Boulevard.
As you enter the house, you will find yourself in a beautifully polished granite kitchen with radiant heat and granite floors. The sliding glass doors lead you to a 350-foot yard with juicy green, endless grass. I’m thinking family, friends, barbecues and parties—or just plain relaxation. On the second level is the ideal living room—soft, but outspoken. It is large enough for comfort, with high hats and hardwood floors—captivating. The third level consists of three beautifully-sized bedrooms, with an elegant designer bathroom fit for a King. The master bedroom is unique; large, yet cozy. The half-moon window captures the light leading to elegance. You may walk out to a balcony where the sunset warms the soul and invites you to a new day. This, my friends, is a special home.
Father Capodanno Boulevard, as you may already know, is parallel to the Franklin Delano Roosevelt boardwalk, which sits beside the ocean. Along Father Capodanno Boulevard, you have a handful of buses to get you where you need to go. The s51 and s52, which both come from the St. George Ferry Terminal, go to Grant City and Staten Island University Hospital, respectively. By taking one of these which are bound for the St. George Ferry Terminal, you can easily transfer to another bus or get off at one of the train stations along Bay Street. Furthermore, along the street, you have the x4, x5, x7, and x8 express buses. The x4 and x8 will take you to Lower Manhattan, while the x5 and x7 will take you into Midtown Manhattan. These buses all utilize the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge to get into the city.
