A luxury home market is very much in play in Woodrow, Staten Island
The neighborhood of Woodrow is on the South Shore of Staten Island, and is right next to Huguenot. Many of the homes in this area were built around the 1980’s and there are also many newly-constructed homes as well. Woodrow offers some nice luxury real estate with spacious properties.
The top sale for Woodrow was in September for $700,000. This was the sale of 1035 Sinclair Ave., which is one of the older luxury homes in the area. This single-family home was built in 1984 on a sprawling piece of property of ten thousand and four hundred square feet. The interior of this home is also quite nicely sized at roughly twenty-five hundred square feet of living space. The next highest sale was for 46 Lynbrook Avenue in September for $685,000. This is a two-family home of newer construction, being built in 2001. The house was built on fifty-two hundred square feet of property, creating a nice yard. The interior of this home has thirty-six hundred square feet of living space.

The on the more affordable end on the price spectrum was the sale of 75 Lorraine Loop in November, which was negotiated to $316,000. This home was constructed in 1990 and is a single-family home. The house was built on approximately eleven hundred square feet of property and contains about twelve hundred square feet of living space.

In the western part of Huguenot, the community often referred to as Woodrow, you will find the lovely, contemporary home of 100 Ramapo Avenue. With winter coming, the conveniently-placed closet as you walk in will come in handy for hanging your coat. The staircase to your right leads up to the large family room with a bar and a sliding door, which leads to the backyard. On the next level, you will find the living room and dining room combination. In the living room portion, you will find an electric fire place and skylights, as well as French doors leading to the terrace, which is shaded by a giant tree. Furthermore, on this floor, you will find the open, state-of-
the-art kitchen. When you get to the third level, you will find the master bedroom, which had its own entrance to the bathroom, as well as three more bedrooms with hardwood flooring and another large bathroom. Less than a block away from the house, on Foster Road, you will find the local s56 bus, which travels to Huguenot and the Staten Island Mall. On this same street, you will also find the x23 express bus which will take you across the Goethals Bridge and into Midtown Manhattan. Walking a bit further, to Woodrow Road, you can also catch the s74, which will take you to the St. George Ferry Terminal and the Staten Island Mall. In addition to the South Shore Golf Course, which is not too far from the house, you also have a number of places to shop and eat nearby.
There are quite a few schools for your children to attend in the vicinity. The closest public schools are P.S. 56, at 250 Kramer Avenue; P.S. 4, at 200 Nedra Lane; P.S. 36, at 255 Ionia Avenue; I.S. 75, at 455 Huguenot Avenue; I.S. 7, at 1270 Huguenot Avenue; and Tottenville High School, at 100 Luten Avenue. There are also a few Catholic schools in the area, such as Out Lady Star of the Sea, at 5411 Amboy Road, the St. Joseph/St. Thomas School, at 50 Maguire Avenue; and St. Joseph by the Sea High School, at 5150 Hylan Boulevard. Just as well, there are other private schools for your children to attend, such as Gateway Academy, at 200 Boscombe Avenue; Yeshiva of Staten Island, at 1870 Drumgoole Road East; and the Francis School, at 4240 Amboy Road. While these schools may be close to the house, they should only be used as a point of reference. You should check with your local public school board or school board to find out which school your child is zoned for, regarding a particular address.

There are many places to shop and eat in the area. Twenty minutes away, you have the Bricktown Mall, which includes Target, which was recently renovated to include grocery shopping; Home Depot; Bed, Bath & Beyond; the Christmas Tree Shop; and Applebee’s. In addition, there are many other stores on Arthur Kill Road, including the supermarket Pathmark. There are also a few parks in the area, such as Bloomingdale Park, which hosts free outdoor summer movies, as well as a 650-yard fitness path, an area for dog runs, and a playground. There is also the Clay Pit Ponds State Park Preserve, which offers over five miles of bridle paths, hiking trails, picnic areas, and educational programs based on the nature of the park.
If you own a car, there are many automobile repair shops in the neighborhood. If you do not own a car, but plan on buying one, there are also Used Car dealerships in the area. However, if you do not plan on buying a car or would rather take the bus, you can always take the s55 along Annadale Road, which travels to Rossville and the Staten Island Mall, or the s74 along Arthur Kill Road, which travels to the St. George ferry terminal and the Bricktown Mall. Just as well, you have the x22 express bus close to the house, which takes Amboy Road to the Goethals Bridge and into Midtown Manhattan.
